I have been using the walker more and have been cleared to drive, while the rest of the family was over helping at the final day of the Mason City Rodeo Bible Camp. Zane had gotten pulled over the side of the chute while pulling the flank on a Saddle bronc.
I do not need to delve into the irony of how many broncs Zane has climbed on over the Cowboy Christmas 4th of July rodeo run in his lifetime, and then have the worst accident of his life while helping at the chutes at a camp, but I do know that God is faithful, we do not know how this will be used to honor Him, but we know it will be, there are fifty eight campers that had a great week at camp, improved their rodeo skills, heard some great teaching, and have seen in action, the efforts people will make to tell them about Jesus, seeds have been planted, and lives will be changed.
Ready for the ride without fearing the fall,
Ride to the hunt for the joy of the call.
Count the trials as blessings for you cannot fail,
When you follow the sign the Lord’s left on the trail.
Thanks for riding along on homegrown this morning, hoping that the Lord blesses you real good today, that he is raining on your place and that our happy trails cross again soon.

We received our biggest rain in years this week, just hours after one field of hay had been knocked down, thinking my head was a little clearer because of being off the pain medications, I tried to put a few lines of rhyme together and came up with a short piece I call “Soggy Hay”
I’m saddened not by soggy hay, the sun will shine and dry someday,
the rest of the ranch so much to gain, though the gift of needed rain,
the hope that comes with moisture sweet, a second cutting will complete,
and if the thought of loss does faze, perhaps the next time I should graze.
To use this tactic I must walk, to set the fence and move the stock,
not an option on this day, but the Lord will heal and make a way,
that to my task I should return, while in this void I must now learn,
like thirsty land responds to rain, I wait and trust beyond the pain.
Thanks for riding along on homegrown this morning, hoping that the Lord blesses you real good today, that he is raining on your place and that our happy trails cross again soon.

We celebrated father’s day on Friday with the branding here on the home place, a crew of four had branded over half of the calves on Monday, the next day I asked Caleb why we were having a crew of twenty come on Friday to brand less calves, his response was that we needed to have a branding.
I would like to extend a big Thank You for the great crew of family and friends that were willing and able to make a new plan turn into a great day.
We will continue to carry on a Father’s Day tradition as we take a little “Ride through Rhyme”
Thanks for riding along on homegrown this morning, hoping that the Lord blesses you real good today, that he is raining on your place and that our happy trails cross again soon.

I hate to deprive the next generation of the privilege making improvements.
The back of the pen tests the mettle of men on the cattle working crew,
young cows that know not how to sort, old cows that know how not to.
With but a slight adjustment, this rhyme is just as true,
when it is considered from the cattle’s point of view.
Thanks for riding along on homegrown this morning, hoping that the Lord blesses you real good today, that he is raining on your place and that our happy trails cross again soon.
